The rope hammocks are often mistaken as woven mosquito net strung between two trees in the jungle, and not as the high-quality manufactured sleep cocoons. The modern rope hammock in use today differs greatly from what it has always been known of and so, people do not really understand its health benefits.

Numerous studies have revealed that a rope hammock is not just meant for relaxation in the afternoon but also beneficial for a good night rest. Studies have shown that a person tends to fall asleep faster on a hammock than a regular bed and also sleeps deeper. Also, sleeping on a properly hung hammock provides a zero-pressure point experience; however, on a regular bed, each point the body comes in contact with the bed becomes a pressure point. Pressure point usually causes tossing and turning on the bed and this is absent in a hammock.
The rocking motion of a rope hammock has been known to help cure people with insomnia- mild or chronic. A lot of people with insomnia would rather turn to sleeping pills, sound machines or cell phone applications to get rid of it but studies have shown that the rocking motion of hammock cures insomnia.

Just like hospitals beds are designed for patients to lie with their heads slightly elevated to the back, hammocks also give the same position, along with its rocking motion and effects. This will help in the promotion of blood circulation to the brain, less obstructed breathing and also serves good cognitive functions. The rope hammocks usually allow air flows through the open weave, making them cooler to recline in and prevent unnecessary sweating during relaxation or sleep.
In general, they may seem unconventional and unorthodox but in the long and short run, it is recommended for people with any aches in the body, joint pain and bad backs. It can also be used by anyone for a good night rest and not for relaxation alone.
